Early Childhood

Welcome to the VISP Early Childhood Section

Who is it for?
​The Early Childhood section is for children aged between 3 and 5 years.
Reception 1 (R1) – 3-4 year olds
Reception 2 (R2) – 4-5 year olds

​At the Vijay International School Praslin the R1 and R2 classes follow the UK Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.  The children will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through 7 areas of learning and development. 

​3 prime areas:
•    Communication and language; 
​•    Physical development; and 
•    Personal, social and emotional development. 

And 4 specific areas:
•    Literacy; 
•    Mathematics; 
•    Understanding the world; and
•    Expressive arts and design. 

​Children in Reception learn by playing and exploring, being active, and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and outside.

Our Aim
To provide children with the skills and qualities to become lifelong learners. ​

​The Early Childhood Section a large outside area including sand, water trays, pirate ship and a play house. We also have access to a beach which provides excellent outdoor learning opportunities. A library is available for all to use, each week the classes visit the library and take home books. Children regularly use the sports hall and the outdoor jungle gym for PE sessions. A Special needs room is used by some of the children with a specialist teacher.

Early Childhood children start at 8.05 and finish at 2.00

Uniform and PE kit

Early Years Uniform consists of blue shorts/skirt and a green T-shirt, all of which can be purchased from the front office during office hours.

Students should to come to school dressed in their uniform and should bring a spare change of clothes and underwear.

PE kit (house team shirt) can also be purchased from the front office.
